Richmond, VA - On January 20, 2022, Darius Saeidi, the potential buyer of the Leesburg Mobile Park, informed New Virginia Majority that he has decided to not purchase the property, “due to complexities with the county and our confidence in being able to work with them to successfully find a resolution to the relocation of the tenants,” according to Saeidi.

NVM has organized with resident leadership and tenants since last year to stop the displacement of 75 families that live there, many of whom are working-class families and seniors. We are pleased with this decision, as the mobile park is one of the few housing options for working-class families, and there is no comparable affordable housing available for relocation in Leesburg.

“After months of protests, meetings, and petitions, today we learned that the buyer is not moving forward with his plans to purchase and redevelop the park. The residents of Leesburg Mobile Park have demonstrated unwavering strength and unity to stand up to real estate investors who hoped to make millions by demolishing their homes. This victory is thanks to their hard work and dedication, as well as the amazing support from community allies in Leesburg and beyond,” said Sofia Saiyed, an organizer for New Virginia Majority.
